It is no secret that I haven’t got a college degree. Everything I know about writing I learned through trial and error, and the AMAZING, FANTASTIC support of beta readers and critique partners. (If you take only one thing from this post, let it be this: appreciate your betas and CPs.)
There are a LOT of writing books out there. These two are the ones that made the biggest difference in my writing, and eventually signing with a literary agency:
Understanding Show Don’t Tell (And Really Getting It) by Janice Hardy
The First Five Pages by Noah Lukeman
If I have ever written a single sentence worth reading, it’s thanks to these two books (and, again, my CPs).
